The boys’ and girls’ track and field teams have won first place by more than 10 points in all three meets they have participated in.

Since the Panther track team has this winning streak, they are very close to winning conference and state. Runner Thomas Stough said, “If we can keep getting better every week, then we will win state.”

Several of the track team members have already qualified for state.

At the Panther Relays hosted by Magnolia, Tavis Harris, junior, set a school record for triple jump with a jump of 47.6.

In addition, Rhiley Herring has thrown an exceptional 145.11 in discus. When asked about the performance of the track team, Herring said, “The team is performing amazingly, and the only thing that will stop us from winning is our own mentality and determination.”

On the girls’ team, Jayqualen Moore has jumped 6’6″ in high jump, and Stajah Hayes has thrown a 35.11 in shot put. Senior Grace Gore said, “We have been really successful.”

Treston Johnson is out front at the Panther Relays.
