All juniors in Arkansas high schools took the American College Test (ACT) Feb. 27 free of charge.

A lot of students were nervous because they had never taken it before, but afterwards said they survived and say they may have done okay.

“I think the ACT was pretty easy,” said Mysheia Crockett. She added, “You have to take it seriously so it takes more time.”

Time was an issue for many students. Nathaniel Silva said, “I think if you just handle your time wisely and study, then it’s okay.”

“I think it was ok. I could’ve used my time more wisely though, but other than that, it was ok,” said Angel Harris.

Carmen Sanchez, agreed time was a problem: “It was too dang long, and there wasn’t enough time.”

“I think I did okay, but I was getting very tired when I got to science,” said K’Yah Bell.

Echoing that sentiment, Alexander Shaw said, “It was alright, but they definitely need to give more time on some of the sections.”

Lavira Young said time was an issue but was more optimistic overall: “It was easy. I just needed more time.”

Kaseen Shaw thought the test got harder. He said, “It was easy until I hit question 40 in every section.”

Agreeing it was hard, Bradasha Chappel said, “I think the ACT was challenging, and I had to be very focused.”

“This ACT was not that stressful for me because I studied, but I had jitters,” said Olivia Reeves, adding. “The actual test was okay.”

Students should receive their scores on the test in 4-6 weeks.
