The softball team beat Liberty-Eylau Feb. 26, coming home from Texarkana with an 18-11 win. The game was originally scheduled for Feb. 27 but was moved up a day due to weather forecasts.

This earned the Lady Panthers a 2-0 record, having beaten El Dorado a few days earlier. The Lady Panthers scored an impressive five runs in the first inning, even with home plate moving around in mud caused by rains the week before. Team member Bailey Ladner said some players slipped, slid, and stumbled on the base, making it a game to remember.

However, Ladner said, “I think we played pretty well, and I can’t wait to see our team grow throughout the season.” Liberty-Eylau was in the Texas State finals last year, making the non-conference victory even sweeter.

Brittany Yates added, “The Lady Panthers softball team is constantly improving. If we can continue to play hard as a team, then we’ll be able to reach our goal.”
