Almost every junior in the state of Arkansas will take the ACT on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Students across the state have been cramming to learn comma rules and math formulas and taking practice tests at home and at school. At MHS, students have been told to report to their assigned classroom as soon as the bell rings to begin testing. Calculators will be provided to those who need them; however, students have been asked to bring their own wooden #2 pencils. Mrs. Hinton, a junior English teacher, said, “I think most students are ready to test and excited for the opportunity to earn scholarships.” Mrs. Callicott, the counselor in charge of the ACT testing, is encouraging students to get a maximum amount of sleep the night before testing, but to continue with their normal morning schedule. Because of testing, the whole school will wait to go to lunch at 12 noon, when testing should be over.
